Welcome back from winter break! I'm sure you're all excited to be back in school. The good news (well, maybe) is that there are only two weeks remaining in the semester. That also means, though, that your quarterly outside reading book is due. We will be writing an in-class essay again on your book, but I also want to do something more creative, so you will also be designing a movie-style poster or preview for your book, as well.
For a poster, you should have an image which is both enticing and captures the mood of the book. You should also, of course, put the title in large letters. In addition to the title, you should have a tagline (a short sentence which piques interest and relates to the plot) and two direct quotes from the book. Use poster board and be creative.
For a preview, you should include the same criteria, just in movie format. Rather than one image, of course, you will have several which serve as a "teaser" for the book. For the tagline and quotes, you may either have them typed on the screen or do a voice over.
Elaborating on a theme and some quotes from the book will help you when you get to the essay. Both will be due on Thursday, January 12th, the final class period of the semester.
